Love Yatri Movie Review – Aayush picks the right film to debut

Sushrut, a garba teacher falls in love with an NRI girl when she visits his town during the Navratri festivities

Love Yatri is a feel-good romcom not meant to be taken too seriously

Starring: Aayush Sharma, Warina Hussain
Directed by: Abhiraj Minawala
Genre: Rom-Com
Best watched in the company of: Family, friends

Love Yatri marks the debut of nepotism’s latest flag-bearer, Aayush Sharma.

First things first, I think it’s unfair to handicap Aayush for being related to Salman Khan as he’s  put in genuine effort to look and play his part.

London-based B-school student Manisha (Warina Hussain) is on vacation in Baroda with her father (Ronit Roy) to celebrate 9 days of Navratri in their hometown. On the first garba night, she meets Sushrut (Aayush Sharma), a garba teacher, and it’s love at first sight.

Love Yatri has all the elements of a formulaic Bollywood love story: boy with six-pack abs meets beautiful foreign-looking girl, one Atif Aslam song and five jokes later, they are in love.

Things take a turn when Manisha has to go back to UK, leaving the love story at limbo. The rest of the film ties its loose ends in London.

In terms of performances, Aayush Sharma has the X-factor. He has worked hard to take the entire film on his shoulders, and the supporting cast (particularly Ram Kapoor and Ronit Roy) really help Aayush in the weight lifting.

Watch Love Yatri if you’re looking for a feel-good, romcom entertainer this weekend. It’s really not that bad!
